The Polish Academy of Sciences and the Saxon Academy of Sciences and Humanities have signed an agreement regarding their future cooperation. It follows the Saxon Academy's memorandum with the Czech Academy of Sciences in 2023.

Both sides declared their intention to cooperate in areas of research of mutual interest. These include subjects pertaining to the humanities and the sciences. Among the potential topics discussed were the historical sciences, artificial intelligence, dynamic processes as well as biodiversity and climate.

The Saxon Academy's cooperation with the Czech Academy of Sciences has already been realised in several joint symposia as well as a first bilateral workshop on the ethics of medicine. The next workshop will focus on the use of artificial intelligence in medicine. It will take place on 11 and 12 December in Leipzig.

"We look forward to the transboundary collaboration which can now be realised through the partnership with two great national science acadmies in Eastern Central Europe", the Saxon Academy's president Hans-Joachim Knölker said. "This enables us to connect excellent scientists across national borders and thus work together on topics which require a European perspective."
